It’s Go Time!

School’s Out 4Ever in marina
Spring 2023! It’s time to get started. “School’s Out 4Ever” has been splashed. She has completed her shakedown cruise and USCG drills. This is such an exciting time of the year for all mariners. Our boats have been in layup since October and we’re all excited to get back out on the water. Many boaters forget to do a thorough check of their vessel and safety equipment due to their excitement to get back behind the wheel. They assume that they’ll get to it later or it’s not really all that important. I have spent 35 seasons navigating the waters of Cayuga Lake. I have seen all kinds of dangerous decisions and behavior as weekend boaters arrive and depart the marina. Although our current yacht does not need to be inspected by the US Coast Guard to operate, we are still required to follow all regulations for commercial passenger vessels. This includes, but is not limited to proper safety briefing, passenger count (max 6), appropriate and proper quantity of PFDs for the passengers onboard, working fire extinguishers, VHF radio, captain’s log, first aid kit, etc. The Coast Guard can board our boat at any time and perform a full safety inspection. The fine for non-compliance is $5,000 per infraction. Safety is our top priority! All through-hull fittings, pumps, tanks, lights, fluid levels and mechanical devices are inspected, repaired and replaced as necessary. We also perform a Man Overboard drill to be prepared for this very unlikely scenario. The lake temperature in the spring is quite cold. If a passenger goes overboard, hypothermia is a huge risk. Time is of the essence in this type of rescue scenario.
We were the originators of the Cayuga Lake Wine Cruise back in 2009 and strive to continue to be the best! Our guests are truly VIPs! Our tours are truly a step above. Our 29’ Cruiser has very comfortable seating, superior creature comforts and a stable ride. The yacht features full cover for chilly days and evenings as well as a bimini top to help keep the sun off passengers on the hot and sunny summer days. Your captain will make you feel comfortable from the time you embark until it’s time to say goodbye. The cooler will be stocked with ice and bottled water to help keep you hydrated. Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages and boat-friendly snacks onboard for their voyage. Whether you choose a winery cruise, sightseeing tour or sunset cruise, you will delight in the beauty of the finger lakes region. On winery cruises, your captain will brief you on the wineries we will be visiting, the history of finger lakes and Cayuga Lake wines and will learn your wine preferences. He might even be able to suggest a wine or two that you would like. He also is happy to recommend wineries not visited on your cruise for future visits. On all cruises, he is happy to share historical information about the area and the lakes. Local restaurant and entertainment suggestions are matched to our guests’ interests. Rest assured, we know Cayuga Lake! Check our ratings on Tripadvisor, Yelp and Google and your will see 5 stars. We look forward to seeing you out with us soon!
